I don't think this is so much a prediction as a statement of something that is already happening. However, I also think that currently the USB stick won't totally replace the CD. Why? Because my mom and lots of other parents simply don't get it when it comes to the digital world. Ik heb vanmiddag een Asus USB wifi stickje aangeschaft voor mijn iBook G3 500. Hierop draait 10.3.9. Enfin, dingetje erin gestoken, wordt netjes herkend. Software erbij geinstalleerd, prima.
Vervolgens ziet ie netjes mijn netwerk ssid (wat overigens onbeveiligd is). Ik maak een profieltje aan voor mijn netwerk, daar verschijnt een geel vinkje in een rood vakje voor. Rood = niet goed, denk ik. Maargoed, vervolgens kan ie dus op geen enkele manier connecten met mijn netwerk.
Heb even geprobeerd of hij het wel deed met WEP aan, maar nee. Ook krijgt hij gewoon geen ip van mn router, een linksys bef11sr4 als ik het goed zeg. Op het tabblad profielen staat ook een knopje met activeren, maar dit doet niets.
Het gaat hier om een Asus WL-167G usb adaptertje, met de software van Asus erbij. Op dit moment ben ik ook nog aan het proberen de nieuwste airport software te downloaden, om te kijken of dat misschien verbetering brengt. Een zoektocht hier op GoT bracht niet veel goeds, alleen een positieve ervaring met mijn adaptertje op een eMac.
Heeft iemand enig idee waar dit aan kan liggen? Het is vast iets kleins, maar ik weet even niet wat..
